 Impressing, but hard to tell time with! July 21, 2010

one reviewer's comments on this watch are hilarious. he says, "Please do not get carried away by the fact that the hour minute hands are not visible." then he gives it 5 stars. why would you want a watch that has hour and minute hands that are not visible?!?!? and how can you give this watch 5 stars if the hands are not visible. and how can 4 out of 4 people find this review helpful, but the reviewer that gave 2 stars and says basically the same thing (except that he gave it 2 stars) only has 2 out of 6 who find that one helpful. this is the main reason i hesitate to review items on amazon. if you don't give 5 stars, you get trolls who come in behind you and mark the review as unhelpful.
i have this watch and i totally agree. it's a beautiful watch, it's a little heavy, but very nice. i received it as a 25 year gift from the company i work for. but the hour and minute hands are hard to see because they blend in with the face of the watch. in certain lighting conditions it's nearly impossible to tell the time. if you want a watch solely for the purpose of impressing people, this is one to consider. however, if you absolutely NEED a watch for telling the time you may want to look for one with hour and minute hands that are easier to read, or you can always use your cell phone to get the time and use the watch to impress people. ;-)
So i give the watch 5 stars for the quality to impress people, but 2 stars for actual functionality. overall i would give it a 3-4. if bulova would make the hour and minute hands darker it would be a solid 5 star watch.

When i received the watch, the gold on the band was scratched as if used before. Amazon quickly replaced the item however i believe the the gold on the watch band scratches easily.

this is my 3rd Bulova, this watch is heavy but not to heavy. I like a solid feeling watch. only issue i have with this watch is that the gold plating will wear off within a month of use. Could of done a better job on the watch band or left the gold overlay off all together.

Received as a Christmas present. Beautiful looking watch but way too heavy. I am a tall, big guy and it felt like it weighed 10 pounds. Too cumbersome for day to day. Returned to Amazon with no problem.

This watch looks even better in person than it does in the photographs. I received this watch as graduation present and it looks amazing. It feels just right. It is exquisitely detailed and (IMO) has a rather intricate face. I get lots of unsolicited, positive comments on it, and I think it looks much more expensive than it actually is.
I couldn't be happier - it's a very solid, classy watch.
